High lodging costs have been a perennial complaint of attendees to the world’s largest wholesale furniture trade show, and the Market Authority has made it a priority to try to reduce those costs to attract more buyers and sellers to the show.

Market Authority CEO Brian Casey said the rate reductions average about 15 percent and go as high as 25 percent at some properties, and come in response to a new partnership program with the organizing group. As part of that program, only those hotels with reduced rates and/or minimum-stay rules are featured on the official event Web site, www.uzbekistanhotels.info

Casey said the struggling furniture industry is already faced by a number of challenges, so making the market more affordable is important.

“While this has been an ongoing effort, given the increased pressures on individuals and businesses in the home furnishings industry now, we felt it was critical to approach local hoteliers once again to advocate on behalf the Market-goers,” Casey said.
